Box Score

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – The Heidelberg University women's soccer team kept Tuesday's match against John Carroll scoreless into halftime, but were not quite able to hold up against the Blue Streak's onslaught of goals in the second half, falling by a final score of 1-0.

The first half saw John Carroll (9-3-1, 3-1 OAC) control possession for the most part, out-shooting the Student Princes 15-4. Despite this advantage, Heidelberg kept the match knotted at zero headed into halftime.

Early in the second half, the Blue Streaks finally broke through, scoring in the 52nd minute to take the lead. The Berg fought back, and had a few opportunities, including a shot on goal in the 85th minute by Darby Moloney, but the JCU keeper made the save and preserved the win for the Blue Streaks.

Heidelberg was out-shot by John Carroll 25-9 in the match while the Blue Streaks committed 13 fouls compared to 9 for the Berg.

Freshman Kimberly Keenan found the most opportunities for Heidelberg, recording three shots, two of which coming on goal.

Kenzie Lundqvist had a busy day in goal, recording 12 saves, which is set a new career high for the sophomore from Vandalia.

Following the defeat, Heidelberg fell to 3-10-1 on the season with an 0-4 mark in OAC play. The Berg will be on the road again this weekend, traveling to Alliance to take on the Purple Raiders of the University of Mount Union. That conference contest is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m.
