Women's soccer speared by Spartans

The Heidelberg University women's soccer team moved to 0-3 in 2013 with a 3-0 loss to the Spartans of Case Western Reserve University.

Senior goalkeeper Molly Schriber was busy in net for the Berg stopping 14 of the 17 shots she faced. Her 14 save performance sets a season high for the Student Prince and doubles her season total to 28.

It was a tough outing for the Student Princes offensively, as they only footed three shots on goal.

Freshman Christy Anzur lead the Student Princes with two shots, one of which was on goal.

Junior transfer Kristen Keenan and sophomore Nicole Johnson recorded one shot on the night.

The Spartans stuck first in the 16th minute when Jessica Sabers netted a pass from Kiley Armstrong. Leah Levey scored the Spartans second goal in the 37th, followed by Case Western's lone second half goal that came from Rachel Hammond in the 82nd minute. Saber, who tallied the first Spartan goal collected the assist on Hammond's goal; her first of the season.

The Heidelberg women will host the Yellow Jackets of Defiance College on Wednesday, September 11. The women's game will be the second half of a men's-women's double header. Kickoff for the women's game is slated for 5:30 p.m. while the men's kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
