Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Cole of Duty: Martone scores 19 in win

TIFFIN -- Powered by 19 points off the bench by Martone Cole, the Heidelberg University men's basketball team toppled visiting Bluffton University on Tuesday.  The Student Princes led wire-to-wire in the 92-68 victory.

Cole, who was 8-of-10 from the floor and added a game-high seven rebounds, was one of four in double figures for The Berg.  Seth Hohman dropped 14 and Emmanuel Perdue had 12.  Transfer guard Treohn Watkins had 10 points.
Heidelberg, 3-0 in non-conference action for the first time since the start of the 2012-13 season, roared out of the gate.  Three 3-pointers -- one each by Zane Leitwein, Dylan Woods and Hohman -- helped HU get out to a 12-2 lead 2:31 into the first half.

Bluffton (0-2) trailed by as many as 16 in the opening half before closing the gap to within five with four minutes in the period.  Perdue scored six of Heidelberg's final eight points in the half, which gave the hosts a 39-30 edge at intermission.

Trey Clemons opened the second half on a tear for the Beavers.  Clemons powered his way to six straight points, cutting his team's deficit to three with 18:24 left.

Undeterred, Heidelberg reinflated their lead back up to 14 midway through the period.   From there, the Tricolor maintained its intensity and held a lead as big as 26 points.

Bluffton's Chad Frey had 18 points off the bench.

The Student Princes outscored Bluffton, 20-6, in points off turnovers.  HU committed 8 miscues while Bluffton had 16.

Heidelberg will travel to Miami University on Saturday in a contest that serves as an exhibition for The Berg, but counts for the Redhawks.  Tipoff in Oxford is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
