Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rochester closes out The Berg

ROCHESTER, New York -- The Heidelberg University men's basketball team fell in the championship game of the Chuck Resler Invitational, 75-52, to host University of Rochester.  Alex Arellano and Dylan Woods were named to the All-Tournament team.

Heidelberg dropped to 1-1 on the year.  Rochester, receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, improved to 2-0.

Woods paced the Student Princes for the second straight day.  After finishing with 27 points on Friday, he had a team-high 12 on Saturday.  Arellano added 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Down 20-12 in the opening half, Heidelberg went on a 15-4 run over a span of 4:36.  During the stretch -- which included three 3-pointers by The Berg, Rochester turned the ball over four times.

Rochester answered with a 15-6 run to close out the first half and led 39-33 at the break.

Each time Heidelberg attempted to inch closer in the second half, Rochester would string together a few baskets to regain the momentum.  A Coby Kelly jumper brought the Tricolor to within five at 47-42 with less than 16 minutes to play.

After Kelly's bucket, the hosts embarked on a methodical 28-10 run over the final 15 minutes, during which the Student Princes shot 4-of-22 from the floor.

As a team, Heidelberg shot 20-of-54 (37%) from the floor.

The Student Princes will host Oberlin on Wednesday.  The home opener is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
