Box Score

ANGOLA, Ind. – A total team effort yielded a 23-point victory for the Heidelberg University men's basketball team on Saturday.  The Student Princes, led by three players in double figures, upended Trine University 74-51.

Deonte Holder, wearing #11 in place of injured guard Marcquice Taylor, came off the bench to lead all scorers with 16 points.  Also off the bench, Cole Williams added 14 points.

Heidelberg (3-2) held a slim five-point lead at halftime before dominating the second half.  The Student Princes opened with a 14-1 run to put distance between themselves and the Thunder.

Trine (1-2) only managed to score 21 points after halftime.

Lee Renner had a team-high seven rebounds off the bench as the Student Princes won the battle of the boards, 34-26.

"It was a complete win for our team today," said first-year coach Andy Bucheit.  "We executed on both sides of the basketball.  We have been focusing on offensive execution all week in practice and our guys carried that over into the game today."

Keith Mackie had 10 points for Heidelberg, which shot 55.8% from the field.

"We are extremely proud of our team and the identity we have formed," concluded Bucheit.

Bucheit's troops will return to the road on Wednesday.  The Student Princes will open up OAC play at Capital.  The team will make their Seiberling Gymnasium debut next Saturday against Mount Union.
